Happy Birthday Justin and Hope!

Jimmy, Tammy, and Justin at Justin's birthday celebration. Those were some good brownies!
I'm not sure what Justin was doing, but it sure looks funny!
I don't know how in the world Justin looks so short in this photo! Keri and I spent the evening at my parent's house to celebrate Justin's birthday.
We all had a great time at Gary and Cindy's celebrating Hope's birthday. That cake was GOOD!

Sigma Theta Tau Induction Ceremony (Nursing Honors Society)

It is so cool to have Keri winding down her studies at UCA. She is very excited that graduation day is quickly approaching.
Gary and Cindy made the trip up to Conway for Keri's induction ceremony. You would've thought we could've picked a better place for a photo... Nice trashcan and brick wall!
Amanda and Keri have been in the nursing program at UCA together for the past three years. They were both honored at the Sigma Theta Tau induction ceremony for Nursing Students.

A Trip to Illinois

Keri and I recently took a trip up to Illinois to visit our good friends Mark and Angie. During our stay we asked them to prayerfully consider joining us in Rwanda. We thought it would be so exciting to serve together. Mark is very good with his hands and details while Angie is an RN. Please pray for them as they consider serving in Rwanda!

A Wedding Gift

It sure is fun to get a wedding gift 3 1/2 years into your marriage! This photo is of the painting that Jenn painted for Keri and I as a wedding gift. It hangs in our kitchen. We love it! Thanks Jenn!

MARCH MADNESS IN THE ROCK!

What an experience! The NCAA tournament selected Little Rock as one of their eight opening round sites for the 2008 NCAA tournament. I tried to buy tickets when they went on sale last spring, but the $165 ticket per person ended those dreams real fast. As the tournament approached Keri and I became more and more excited because we learned that the practices of all the teams would be open to the public for FREE! We were able to see Oregon, Texas, Miami, Texas Arlington, and Memphis all practice. It was a really neat experience for the two of us. The next day (Friday) the games were going to be taking place at Alltel Arena. The Lord was so good to me! The guy that sits right next to me at work had two tickets given to him for the morning session of the tourney. He couldn't find anyone to go with him so he invited me. I had a blast! I was able to get out of work to watch the NCAA tournament live and it was completely FREE! My seat was tremendous. We were in the fourth row right behind the Texas Long Horns. The games were fun to watch but I felt a little out of place. You see, I was in the Texas section because my friend from work got the tickets from the Assistant Athletic Director for UT. I was in a sea of orange and was sitting next to the Assistant Athletic Director of Texas. To make things even more crazy; I was wearing a Razorback shirt underneath my jacket. Being an avid Hog Fan this was definitely an awkward spot to be in but a fun one nonetheless!
Everything....Even the towels had the NCAA logo on them.Interesting fact about the NCAA tournament for all of you out there who are so eager to learn! CBS Sports have all the rights to advertisements during the tournament. You can see a small yellow banner sporting CBS SPORTS in blue near the top left hand corner. All the rest of the advertisements in the arena were taken down for the four day event. CBS paid major bucks for this right...It seems to be worth it though since their contract with the tournament extends until 2011.
Derrick Rose and Joey Dorsey during their practice at Alltel Arena during the 1st and 2nd rounds of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Joey and Derrick are both locks for NBA draft even though Joey is a Senior and Derrick is a Freshman. This is a sweet shot of Derrick Rose, freshman phenom, of the Memphis Tigers. Derrick averaged over 20 points per game during the NCAA tournament and just declared himself eligible for the NBA draft this Summer.
View of Alltel Arena. The time spent watching the practices was really enjoyable. Keri and I thought that Memphis looked the most sharp out of all the teams that we saw practice. Go figure, they make the championship game in the Final Four.

Yellow Fever anyone?

Keri showing off her nice reaction to her yellow fever shot. We're hoping that when we get over to Rwanda she doesn't have a major outbreak! She looks to be doing well.Getting up close and personal with Keri's reaction to her Yellow Fever Shot. She will tell you that this photo does not do justice!

Little Rock 1/2 Marathon

About 30 minutes before the race. I have no clue why we are blue...
Our buddies before the race. Juston and Rebekah, on the far right, trained with Steven and Keri on quite a few of the long runs.
A shot of a portion of the crowd before the race. There were over 9,000 participants!

This is at mile 6... I was still feeling really strong at this point.

There goes my Mom to the finish. Yep, she is fast. Yep, she beat me. She has ran close to 20 marathons and will compete in her first IronMan Triathlon in August.

Coming down the homestrech.

Really gutting it out... aka, really bad picture!

The marathon winner...I'm sure we weren't too far behind!!

There goes Keri down the homestrech. She was really sick. 100.3 temp, dehydrated and still ran! She was a real trooper. It was disappointing for her because she trained so hard and wasn't able to run her best because of her illness. Guess well have to try again!

After the race at Chili's. I was HUNGRY. Keri was not.
It was so fun to train together. We really enjoyed the entire experience and look forward to doing it again!

Thanks to Gary and Cindy for the pictures!

Gotta' love that cake!
Janel decorated this cool cake for Will's second birthday.
Steven's cousin, David (2nd to left), was in town from San Francisco for the week. He moved to San Francisco about a year ago to work as a manager at Barnes and Noble. Jason, (far left), will leave for basic training in February. He recently joined the Army.

Christmas Time!

Justin, Megan, Keri and Steven on Christmas Eve.

Steven and Keri at Steven's parents house for Christmas. We got a lot of cool running stuff that has kept us warm during our COLD runs by the river on Saturday mornings!

The winners! Stephen and Kelli won a "free" ticket to Hello Dolly from Gary and Cindy!
Chris and Jenn had these cool people with theirs. Another cool point is that they had so much snow, they had to have their roof reinforced with pencils!
John and Janel's Gingerbread house.

Here you can see the wonderful lawn care of John and Janel's gingerbread home.

Steven and Keri's Gingerbread house.
This is Steven and Keri's amazing brickwork, snowman, and firelogs with snow. Needless to say, we did a good enough job to get last place out of 4 couples!
This is most of Steven's youth group (Miles, Nate, Justin, and Sam). We bought gifts for a Tylarence with the Angel Tree. The guys had a great time picking out toys and clothing for our 5 year old buddy!
